Our Christian community desires to bring the love of Jesus Christ to the Muslim world.
The New Hope Mission Society was formed in 2005 in response to a presentation by Dr. Roland Miller at a Mission Sunday Forum at Faith Lutheran Church in Hutchinson, Minnesota. Dr. Miller, a long time missionary in India and a leader of the Malabar Mission Society in Canada, told a riveting story of the witness of a little but bold converted Muslim who was now a pastor in India. The congregation at Faith Lutheran was so moved by what they heard that they soon decided not only to support this evangelical witness as a congregation, but to create a network of support. This led to the formation of the New Hope Mission Society. In the past few years, numerous congregations and individuals have found common cause and have together been giving generous support to this mission endeavor.
NHMS has since expanded its support to a Christian-based school in India, missionaries in Nigeria and witness to international college students in the Minneapolis area.
At first blush, having our own web page (separate from FaithLC.com) seemed an obvious next step we should take. We could update communications easily and they would be accessible to all interested. The trouble is that we could not communicate directly about those we support without placing their lives more at risk. Everyone we partner with said it was a good idea in principle, but urged us not to name them in any way. The Internet is an open book for everyone, including enemies of our witnesses. This makes this option unacceptable.
We do however, produce NHMS newsletters and update our donors regularly. If you would like to receive our newsletter, we ask you to send your email address to Pastor Paul Knudson at Faith Lutheran Church. This will not only make more frequent communications easier, but will be better stewardship of funds.
New Hope Mission Society, Inc. is a separate 501(c)(3) religious corporation with roots from Faith Lutheran Church, which continues to be the largest financial supporter. Other supporting congregations and individuals come from all parts of the United States, mostly from WordAlone and LCMC Congregations. The mission of NHMS is to bring the love of Jesus Christ to the Muslim world. New Hope Mission Society, Inc. has a board of directors.
