With 28 volunteers dressed in red shirts and ready to work, Faith Lutheran’s first-ever Community Service Sunday was a small, but promising experiment. This event brought our congregation together to do a mini-mission trip at home. Work included washing windows at members’ homes, weeding and spreading dirt for new grass at Park Elementary school, and cleaning plant debris and providing general cleanup for Library Square Park in Hutchinson.
The church’s Discipleship team planned the event, recruiting volunteers and organizing projects for the day. A hot dog lunch was provided by the Congregational Life ministry team.
4 teams ranging from 2 to 7 volunteers were sent out to complete projects. Thank you to everyone who helped make this day happen! Have any comments, or suggestions for future efforts like Community Service Sunday? Tell us what you think below. We’d love to hear from you!
