“New” is fun, isn’t it? A new car, washing machine, friendship. Newness is refreshing. One simple memory to illustrate is when my kindergarten teacher saw what a mess I made of my art paper, and said with tenderness, “Here, let’s take a new sheet and start over.” I was motivated to do better.
Our daily Christian life is one of starting over. Yesterday’s failures are swallowed up in God’s forgiving love through Jesus Christ, and every day is “new.” We are energized to shape our lives in ways that please God and bring blessing. That’s refreshing, and a daily lifestyle always available in Jesus.
Something else is new at Faith Lutheran. “Pastor” Dave Wollan. While he’s been serving in pastoral mode for a while now, with his January 5th ordination he is the real deal. All levity aside, we welcome Dave in his pastoral role with enthusiastic love and partnership. Let God lead us to new heights of service and devotion to God as we work together.
But what’s all this like for Pastor David? There’s an opportunity for Senior members to find out from his own lips. He will be our speaker at Seniors Potluck on Thursday, January 30, 2014, beginning at 12:00 noon. We hope weather and health will allow you to come and hear Pastor Dave. Bring someone new with you so they can see what a great time we have together in the Lord.
Again – Happy New Year!
