The Hope Center is located at 218 Main Street – North of Faith Lutheran Church. It was established in 2001 utilizing the gift of the building which was donated to Faith Lutheran Church, and has become a beacon of Hope in the heart of Hutchinson and the surrounding area. The mission of the Faith Lutheran Church Hope Center is to provide a welcome place of HOPE that empowers all who enter with a way to meet their physical, emotional and spiritual needs. The theme Bible verse for the Hope Center is: “And now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; and the greatest of these is love” (1 Corinthians 13:13). The Hope Center houses the following mission partner agencies:
Heartland Community Action Agency– 587-5244
The mission of Heartland is “to eliminate poverty and advocate for low-income families.” They operate under a transformational strategic plan that guides them to focus on strategies that move people out of poverty permanently (as opposed to “band-aiding” the conditions of poverty). Heartland’s “high-impact” strategies are to: build relationships across class and race lines, strengthen community capacity to assure educational justice for all low-income children, influence policy and resource development so that everyone has safe and affordable housing, create a strategy-focused organization that acts as an effective catalyst to eliminate poverty, and develop a committed group of community leaders to end poverty.
Habitat for Humanity – 587-8868
Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian organization dedicated to eliminating substandard housing and homelessness and to making adequate, affordable shelter a matter of conscience and action. Habitat is founded on the conviction that every man, woman and child should have a simple, decent, affordable place to live in dignity and safety.
Common Cup Ministry – 587-2213
An ecumenical Christian ministry that is supported by 16 Hutchinson, Glencoe, Brownton and Winsted churches. Common Cup Ministry is housed in the Hope Center and serves people who fall through the cracks of all other assistance for emergency food and shelter needs. They provide spiritual ministry through prayer, giving away free Bibles and working to connect people to churches for nurture.
Parish Nurse – 234-8344
The Parish Nurse Program is an affiliation of Common Cup Ministry. A parish nurse serves a variety of roles in a local congregation and community. These roles include but are not limited to, health education, health counseling, integration of faith and health, referral advisor, health advocate and volunteer coordinator.
