Our Lord invites us to serve him in feeding those who hunger among us. This is his invitation for sacrificial giving that all God’s children are fed. The 2012 goal for our annual hunger appeal is $10,000. This a challenging goal, one we surpassed in 2011. Consider your blessings, and give generously as your Lord leads you.
Your gifts will be distributed as follows:
- 60% to Lutheran World Relief. Through LWR we are assured of the very best stewardship of gifts given. Funds not only are used to feed the hungry but to help them with the tools to feed themselves.
- 25% to Common Cup Ministries. This local ministry in McLeod County is experiencing increased demands for service, but is also experiencing a shortfall in receipts from congregations. As of mid-October expenses exceeded income by over $13,000.
- 10% to McLeod County Food Shelf. Members of our community continue to experience times each month when they need to access food through this community resource.
- 5% to Food for Kidz (out of Stewart, MN). This ongoing Ministry provides nutritional meals prepared locally and sent overseas.
Your gifts clearly marked for our “Hunger Appeal” can be given using the Mission Sunday envelope and/or the Thanksgiving Offering envelope.
