Have you ever wondered what the little town of Bethlehem was like all those years ago? Although Jesus was born on a silent night, daytime in Bethlehem was a busy time. The streets were bustling with merchants and townspeople in the marketplace buying and selling goods like spices, cloths and food. The Worship Ministry Team at Faith Lutheran recreated that marketplace scene before the Advent service on Wed. Dec. 7, complete with Biblical costumes. The marketplace experience even included a census taker to document the attendees, as ordered by Ceasar Augustus.
Below, enjoy some pictures taken from the Bethlehem marketplace.

As of the end of November, $53,289 had been collected for 3-PEAT. This means Faith Lutheran Church still needs $106,711 in offerings by Dec. 31 of this year. 3-PEAT is the title of an encouragement for strong year-end giving in 2011 to ensure that borrowing is not needed for the third year in a row.
All members of the Faith Lutheran congregation are asked to consider their contribution this December.
Pray;
Evaluate your 2011 giving to this point;
Assess how God has blessed you; and
Thankfully give as generously as you can before the end of the year.

Consider giving a poinsettia plant for the Chancel decoration at Faith Lutheran this Christmas season. The cost of each plant is $10 and a donation from each plant will be used to help pay down Faith’s budget in an attempt to have a 3-PEAT.
The church will order all the plants. All you have to do is fill out an order form, which will be available as an insert in the announcements beginning Sun. Dec. 4. Order forms will also be in the church office. The final day to return a form is Dec. 21, and poinsettias can be picked up after the 10 a.m. worship service on Dec. 25.
